They also have to be characters in their own right, and I prefer villains who have just a hint of possible redemption, or at least something that makes you wish that they could be redeemed.</p>
<p>Mine was just annoying. There wasn&#8217;t all that much substance to him because when you&#8217;re writing for fun at 13 and not taking yourself very seriously you tend to think that just declaring someone a villain should make them detestable. I was happy with it as a teenager, but not as an adult.</p>
