I need to make a decision about what to do with all these credits I’ve been accumulating. I have nearly a thousand, and there are two potions I see before me.
- Spend the credits on advertising
- Sell the credits for money
I have seen other people offering to buy entrecard credits at a rate of 1000 for $7, which is reasonable for something I’ve earned for free. Some money is good money, and I’m not convinced that the quality of traffic I’ve bought through entrecard is as good as the traffic I get from reciprocal droppers.
Any thoughts?

Viva pinata my new gaming addiction. The bright colours, catch tunes, adorably cute antics and challenging mechanics have me hooked on thie Xbox 360 game. So much so that I’m going to write some articles and how-to’s for the game.
Sadly I only get to play it on weekends when I’m home from college. I get a lot of time tothink about it though, and plan articles. Here’s the first one:

Busy these last few days, but I’m happy to report that I’ve just made my first dollar with Project Wonderful. That took approximately ten days, which isn’t too bad. Approximately $3 a month will earn me $36 a year, which is modest but reasonable. My goal for adsense is $4 a month, which isn’t too far off that goal. Hopefully when I graduate I’ll have a nice sum of cash to buy a domain name, as ‘Nearly-Dr Ferox’ won’t apply any more, because I’ll be ‘Really Dr Ferox’!

You see dozens, hundreds, thousands (millions?) of websites, posts and articles about online marketing and blah-de-blah-de-blah. This is different. I am going to trial an offline marketing experiment and see what sort of traffic it can bring into my blog.
There are a few inbuilt difficulties with offline advertising for a website though. Specifically, you can’t trace where any visitors came from if they’re manually typing in a web address that they found on a piece of paper, so you don’t know where they came from. You can’t tell if your offline marketing trial worked, or if soemthing else is bringing visitors to your site.
Hopefully though, I’ll see an extra 20+ unique visitors who have no refering link that visit several pages each. They may even leave comments that help me to identify them, with a bit of luck. Read more…

As a blogger, one of the goals you aim for is to write such good content that other people will link to you and your posts of their own free will. It’s a wonderful warm feeling to find genuine, well thought out comments on blog posts that you put a lot of effort into, but it’s even better to see an ‘incoming link’ that someone has posted about your blog because they liked what they saw.
Wordpress blogs (like this one) have a nifty little feature on their dashboard which will show recent links that take people to your blog, and you can click them to see where your blog is linked to from other blogs, forum posts etc. Read more…
