A blog post is essentially a column of text, right? It’s a collection of words that you put together to convey a message to any readers that happen to drop by your page, for whatever reason.
However, quite a lot of your readers are busy people with important things to do. They’re not going to read your boring old post unless there’s something in it for them. A column of text about the same old text, the same old way is boring, and nobody wants to spend time on something that is boring.
You have to spice it up a bit. Read more…

I do a lot of writing in my free time because I enjoy doing it. That’s one of the reasons that I am currently maintaining 3 blogs and contributing to a multi-author blog. I enjoy writing to express my thoughts, and as a kind of diary so I can look back on what I’ve written and reflect.
I try to keep my other blogs mostly on topic, because I think most Internet users have a short attention span and if they don’t see what they’re looking for straight away, they’ll just bugger off. Yesterday I added an Entrecard widget to my blog to start pulling in traffic. I knew what to expect, and the Entrecard didn’t dissapoint. Within an hour 18 people had visited this blog, which isn’t too bad since the ‘hour’ I’m tlakign about is the middle of the night in America. My new account was also instantly filled with advertisers wanting to grab a bargan spot on my blog for only 1 or 2 Entrecredits too.
There’s been a lot of negative talk about the traffic Entrecard brings to a blog. That’s because most of the traffic is from chain droppers: visitors that come specifically to seek out your entrecard widget and click on it, earning you and them one credit. They don’t read the blog and aren’t interested in your content. They don’t click on adds and they don’t leave comments, so their traffic is worthless and can be ignored.
Some Entrecard users will stop and read though, some will even comment and participate if your Blog is interesting enough, and if you’re a good blogger with something unique. Read more…

The Internet grants people a wonderful sense of anonymity. It allows people to step out of their comfort zone in a relatively safe , social environment, because if they make mistakes they can leave, change their username and try again.
